What I Learned This Weekend
Well, it is the end of a long holiday weekend here in the States and I learned some incredibly valuable lessons about business, marketing and connecting than I ever though possible. I went to the JV Zoo Marketing Mayhem 2014 event in Orlando. Yes, I used to live there so it was great to get back there and feel like I was “home”.
I had never gone to a single live event before, so I did not really know what to expect. There were a few hundred people there including some of the biggest names in Internet Marketing, Coaching and Music. Yes, music. Here I am with none other than Vanilla ice:
I even got to meet a former Miami Dolphin Cheerleader who competed on The Amazing Race twice. She is incredibly smart, working as an Attorney, and very warm and caring. We spoke for over an hour about so many things, I lost track:
But the biggest lesson I learned was to get out and connect with people. You never know who you may meet who can help you in your business. I went with the intention of adding value and absorbing as much as I could. Here are some of the people I connected with:
I got a little out of my comfort zone for this event. Though I have no problem standing in front of large groups and speaking to many, or getting in front of a camera to record a video or even speak on a packed webinar, I am actually a little shy so going up to these people was a little challenge. I made some awesome connections and met some of the most wonderful people.
Moral: get out and mingle, meet people and attend events. This will drive your business more than you may realize.
